Nymphea Aquapark
Client: Municipality of Oradea
KÉSZ Romania acted as general contractor for the Nymphaea Aquapark, a state-of-the-art leisure complex covering almost seven hectares. The facility comprises ten slides, fifteen pools, six saunas, playgrounds, massage parlours, a Turkish bath, sports courts, restaurants and bars. The project involved high-level architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical works.
A key technical innovation was the first use of an ETFE foil roof system in Romania, covering a 50-metre
diameter, partially openable dome supported by glued-laminated timber arches. The architectural concept of the central building was inspired by the local thermal-water lily – commonly known as the lotus flower –
whose distinctive 82-metre-diameter “blossom” posed a substantial engineering challenge. The structure
consists of glulam arches spanned by a translucent ETFE membrane.
Green-roofed auxiliary buildings, shaped to blend into the surrounding landscape, complement the indoor
and outdoor slides, pools, sports and leisure facilities, restaurants, bars and wellness and spa areas,
offering visitors a truly unique experience.
