Design of the Hungexpo F1 and Hungexpo CK

Hungexpo – Steel design for the expansion of the Budapest Conference and Congress Centre

In connection with the expansion of the Hungexpo Budapest Conference and Congress Centre, KÉSZ Romania’s design team contributed to two major, high-precision tasks, developing complex steel-structure solutions.

Hungexpo F1  
Total built-up area: 6,000 m²  
Beneficiary: Expo Park Kft.
For the new entrance building – housing offices and showrooms – our team designed the distinctive
free-form steel façade structure. The rotationally symmetric space frame adapts to the varying
footprints of the reinforced-concrete substructure, while the special roof shape is generated by a
geometry fitted to a spherical surface. The design process relied on parametric modelling, covering
both the main structural checks and the detailed node design.

Hungexpo CK  
Total built-up area: 1,000 m²  
Beneficiary: Expo Park Kft.

For the roof of the entrance hall, we developed a steel load-bearing system supported by existing
precast concrete columns. Hot-rolled I-beams carry secondary purlins and, above them, high-profile
trapezoidal sheet. KÉSZ Romania’s engineers were responsible for the connection design and workshop
drawings of this roof structure as well.
