Design of the MVM Dome arena

The MVM Dome is one of Budapest’s largest indoor event arenas, with a capacity of 20,000 spectators and an overall built-up area of almost 50,000 m². Its steel roof structure – comprising some 4,500 tonnes of
steel, of which 3,000 tonnes are in the roof itself – represented a particularly demanding engineering
challenge.

KÉSZ Romania’s design team carried out the structural calculations required for the assembly of the roof
trusses and designed a bespoke temporary support system to define the erection sequence. We also took part in the connection design of the large-span trusses, some of which span up to 112 metres, thereby
supporting the KÉSZ Group’s fabrication and construction activities on this complex, iconic project.
