Design of the Riga Outdoor Stage

The open-air stage built in a forest near Riga has become an emblematic cultural venue not only in Latvia
but in the entire Baltic region. Its double-curved, free-form roof structure is 134 metres wide and
37.5 metres high, and consists solely of tubular steel space trusses, using around 1,800 tonnes of steel.

On this highly complex steel-structure project, one of the KÉSZ Group’s most challenging to date,
KÉSZ Romania’s design team joined the wider engineering effort by designing the connections, developing the detailed 3D model, preparing the workshop drawings and defining the erection sequence. Our contribution helped the KÉSZ Group’s fabrication and construction teams deliver this remarkable
structure as an outstanding piece of engineering.
