Design of the Viterra Vegetable Oil Plant
In cooperation with the KÉSZ Group’s Hungarian engineers, KÉSZ Romania’s design team contributed to the expansion of Viterra’s vegetable oil plant in Foktő, delivered between 2020 and 2022. The project included the construction of a multi-storey, approximately 17,000 m² building with a rigid steel frame and sandwich panel cladding.
The complexity of the investment is reflected in more than half a million work-hours, tens of thousands of
cubic metres of earthworks and concrete, 1,200 tonnes of steel and a wide range of integrated systems – oil storage facilities, around 300 installed pieces of equipment, 25 km of piping and an electrical and control network with 170 km of cabling.
The specialists of KÉSZ Romania supported the implementation of the project through the detailed design of the steel structure joints and the preparation of fabrication drawings. During the design process, special attention was paid to ensuring that the structural solutions were compatible with the technological equipment and were efficient in terms of execution and cost. To this end, parametric design methods were also applied.
The project is a clear example of the value of professional collaboration within the Group of companies and of the important role played by experience and synergy across different areas of expertise, including the contribution of the KÉSZ Romania design team.
