Design of the Zalazone Facility
KÉSZ Romania’s structural engineers provided steel-design services for the Zalazone armoured-vehicle manufacturing facility in Zalaegerszeg, supporting the work of the KÉSZ Group’s Hungarian engineering team.
The main building houses the vehicle production lines and is complemented by several auxiliary structures – including freight and personnel gatehouses, a car wash and an EMC building where the vehicles are tested. The primary structure of the main hall combines precast reinforced concrete with steel framing.
On the Zalazone project our first task was the node modelling and workshop design of the steel structure of the production hall. This was followed by the global and detailed structural analysis of the test building. The “building-in-building” arrangement for the electromagnetic wave absorber room and climatic chamber posed a particularly complex engineering challenge.
